They’re Home

This week has brought a mix of profound relief and deep sorrow for our community.

After so many months of anguish, we rejoiced as all the live hostages were finally released from Gaza and reunited with their loved ones. Yet even in that moment of joy, our hearts remain heavy. We are still waiting for the return of those who have not yet come home.

To mark this momentous time, 1000 people gathered together at Beth Weizmann, standing shoulder to shoulder in anticipation of the hostages’ release. With inspiring musical performances from Avimeir and Ari Wenig, the Holy Drummers and Halev Choir, along with powerful words of hope from Rabbi Karnowsky and Zionism Victoria Vice President Lexi Kowal, the rally was an expression of unity, compassion, and shared strength. It was a reminder that in moments of joy, pain and uncertainty, our community stands together.

On Sunday, we will come together again for ‘The 7th’ - our community's official commemoration of October 7. Together, we will honour the memory of the victims, reflect on the 2 years that changed us all, and renew our collective commitment to remembrance, resilience, and hope.
