Adar Begins. The Next Generation Steps Forward.

Dear Friends,

We have entered the month of Adar.

Our tradition teaches that when Adar begins, joy increases. Not as distraction, but as strength. Jewish joy reflects clarity about who we are and confidence in where we are heading.

We begin this month following the visit of President Isaac Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog. Their time with our community demonstrated our unity and resolve, and reaffirmed something fundamental: Israel is not peripheral to Jewish life. It sits at the centre of our identity and our story.

As we turn toward Yom Ha’atzmaut, we do so with intention.

This year’s celebrations will not simply feature young people. They will be led by them. The vision, programming and direction are being shaped by emerging leaders stepping forward with clarity and purpose. Our role is to provide the platform and back them decisively.

If Israel is central to Jewish identity, then the next generation must experience that connection as real and relevant. Leadership does not happen by default. It is developed, entrusted and practised.

That is our focus.

Yom Ha’atzmaut this year will reflect that commitment. It will be vibrant and meaningful because it is being shaped by those who will carry our community into the future. None of this happens without partnership. Every event and every leadership opportunity exists because members of our community choose to invest in continuity. If you believe in a confident, united and engaged Jewish future, this is the moment to lean in.

Support the work. Stand behind the next generation. Help sustain the momentum.

As Adar begins, may we increase in joy, in unity and in purpose.

Shabbat Shalom,

Elyse Schachna
