Our second Talking About Israel session, entitled ‘Narratives of Israeli Nationalism’ focused on some of the more prominent topics of Israeli nationalism, such as Zionist discourse in the 19th century, Jewish political legacy, and Zionism in Israeli society today.
The session was facilitated by Joel Burnie, Associate Director of Public Affairs at the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council.
Joel has over ten continual years of active community participation through elected positions in various organisations. Before his current role, he served as a student program coordinator and policy analyst at AIJAC and he was also the president of the Australasian Union of Jewish Students in 2007.
He has a B.A. in political science and anthropology and a Masters of Law (Juris Doctorate) from Monash University.
