On 27 July, a group of Israeli high school students from the Arava Acacia Delegation visited the Beth Weizmann Community Centre for a fun, educational treasure hunt.
During the game, participants learnt about the Australian Jewish community and its connection to Israel and met representatives from various Zionist organisations including Zionism Victoria, ZFA, UIA, Magen David Adom and JNF. They worked hard to find all the clues, shared many laughs and enjoyed treats and gifts.
One participant said:
“I had no idea that so many Israeli organisations have a ‘home’ in Melbourne.”
Another student added:
“The most surprising thing was to see my parents in one of the JNF videos. It made me realise how close we are, even though we live in two different countries.”
The treasure hunt at Beth Weizmann was organised by Zionism Victoria as part of the Arava Australia Partnership run under the Zionist Federation of Australia.
“The partnership between Australia and the Arava is thriving,” said Jane Rapke, Executive Director of Zionism Victoria. “We are thrilled to be involved in the partnership delegations that visit Melbourne to strengthen the connection between Israel and Australia that has spanned decades and generations and wish the Arava students the best of luck.”
