2015-16 Summer Camp Fun

During the recent Summer school holidays, the Zionist youth movements engaged their chanichim in fun, entertaining and educational (shhhh, don’t tell the kids) activities. Here are some highlights:

BETAR

Betar had a very successful summer and federal camp this year. We made the decision to have vegetarian camp’s, which all the bogrim and chanichim were astonished as to how well it went. We had an increase of 30% of chanichim attending both summer and federal camps this year.

BNEI AKIVA

This summer we ran two immensely successful camps! Our Junior Camp, focusing on the theme of Heroes had 115 chanichim participants and included highlights such as color war and superhero theme nights! Our Federal camp ran the week after with an outstanding 240 chanichim in attendance! One of the major highlights of the camp was when our newest Shevet, was named! Shevet Morasha now joins the long heritage of Bnei Akiva Australia and well as Bnei Akiva Olami. We thank all the Roshim of both camps and can’t wait to continue soaring to new heights in regards to our camps in 2016!!

HABONIM DROR

Habonim Dror’s Kayetzet (Junior Camp) was a massive success! We had 167 chanichim, the highest we have had in years. The success of Kayetzet was followed by our senior Federal camp. Chanichim came from around Australia to enjoy 11 days of programs, hikes, dancing and other activities. This particular camp had a strong Jewish and Zionist atmosphere with two madrichim from our sister movement in Israel come to help run programs.

 HASHOMER HATSAIR

Shomria 2016 was a huge success with kids coming down from Byron and Cairns to join us in the sweltering Victorian heat. From the moment camp begun there was constant stream of laughter, games, singing and dancing. On Hashy camp we create a world of our own, one that is free and inclusive, where kids are able to be themselves, expand their minds and speak freely while making lifelong friends along the way. If you want to know more about Hashy you can contact Emily Sterling, on 0432099162 or email her at merakez@hashy.org.au
