Germany at Odds: From the Shoah to the Present

The Jewish Holocaust Centre, Zionism Victoria and the Lamm Jewish Library of Australia are pleased to present journalist and author Eldad Beck in a fascinating exploration of German society from the Shoah to the present Sunday, 28 February 4pm at the Jewish Holocaust Centre, 13-15 Selwyn Street, Elsternwick.

Eldad Beck has been the Berlin-based correspondent of the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth since 2002. His recent book, Germany at Odds, is his account as Israeli journalist living and working in Germany at the beginning of the 21st century. Beck questions many assumptions about “the new Germany” and examines whether Germany has really confronted its past.

Born in Haifa in 1965, Eldad Beck studied Arabic and Islam at the Sorbonne University in Paris. He served as Middle East Affairs correspondent for IDF Radio and the newspaper Hadashot as well as the Paris-based correspondent of IDF Radio, the Jerusalem Report, the Jerusalem Post, and Israel’s Channel 2.

Entry is by donation.
