During the recent Winter school holidays, the Zionist youth movements engaged their chanichim in fun, entertaining and educational (shhhh, don’t tell the kids) activities. Here are some highlights:
Betar
Betar Melbourne’s Machane Jungle Safari was the highlight of the first half of the year. Roshim Natalie and Adrian led the fun-filled 5 days. Led by hard working madrichim, all chanichim had an awesome time and had amazing group and campwide peulot run for them. We look forward to what the next 6 months holds for Betar Melbourne.
Bnei Akiva
Bnei Akiva Melbourne’s Winter Camp “Humans of Machane” was a resounding success. With a record 287 chanichim, the camp provided outstanding educational content as well as a chance for participants to bond and make new friends. Juniors focused on important events through Jewish History, Intermediates were asked why we believe in and perform our core values, while Seniors learned about creating our Jewish identity by learning from different personalities. Plans have already started for Summer Camp and we can’t wait for you to join us!
Habonim Dror
Habonim Dror Melbourne’s Winter Camp this year was a huge success. With over 200 chanichim from year 3 – 11 coming together for 10 days over the Holiday break. At Coonawarra Farm Resort, chanichim escaped the cold by joining in the fun and engaging activities organised by their madrichim. Campers were also lucky to have the opportunity to ride the campsite’s Giant Swing and Flying Fox! ‘Machane Choref’ was a huge success and Habonim Dror cannot wait to see everyone again on our Summer Camp, ‘Kayetzet’!
Hashomer HaTzair
During their week-long stay at Hashy’s 2015 winter camp, chanichim enjoyed fun and engaging peulot, hilarious ‘Field Game’ antics, beautiful nature walks, sang their hearts out during ruach, and had the chance to hang out with the farm animals on site. Special to our winter camp was the exciting number of chanichim who were experiencing their very first Hashy camp. The warm, family-like environment created by our more veteran campers meant that our newer additions felt at home from day one. Hashy’s Machane Olami was a huge success!
Hineni
Hineni Melbourne winter camp was a huge success. We had an incredible 78 chanichim who had the opportunity to delve into discussion and continue their learning on numerous topics, all within the camp theme of Yellow Brick Road. Each day we focussed on a different character in the Wizard of Oz and related their characteristics to Hineni’s ideology and general worldly issues. Everyone that attended had an amazing time and we can’t wait for Fed Camp in a few months!
Netzer
With ninety kids ranging from years 3 –12 Melbourne winter camp “Machane Chalutzim” was a sensational success. With an incredible set of leaders, inspiring programs and uplifting roach, we could not have asked for a better camp. This year, in addition to our regular programs we add an on site activities like flying fox and obstacle course. We already started our preparation for summer camp and we looking forward to see everyone at Mahane Galaktika.
