The program includes the screening of A Life of Its Own, a film exploring the subject by Helen Kapalos.
This remarkable film spans the world, mines the depth of medical knowledge, reveals the myths and mistruths about this still contentious issue and pays tribute to the power of parents’ love for their children.
In Australia, the move to legalise medical cannabis has gained significant momentum, thanks to the tenacity of a couple whose terminally ill son benefitted from medical cannabis. Their story inspired a nation.
It also ignited a debate challenging the existing medical paradigm. Many sections of the medical community still have very little knowledge of the potentially widespread uses of the plant, while many are becoming ardent supporters of the emerging science.
The film takes you to the country where the science began – Israel – recognised as a world leader in medicinal cannabis research and one of the few countries where its use is approved federally. We reveal never-before-seen footage of the largest human trials of medicinal cannabis in the world.
