Israel Elections 2013:
Community post-election forum:
Who won, and what does it mean?
• What will Bibi do next?
• What will the coalition look like?
• What will happen with the Heredim in the military or job training?
• Will there be any chance of peace with the Palestinians?
• Will the settlements be annexed?
These are some of the questions that are lingering following Israel’s elections, which took place 22 January. With the votes tallied, the real electioneering is now taking place, with coalitions forming, deals being made, issues being discussed and ministry posts being negotiated.
Israel’s Channel 2 Commentator Ehud Ya’ari (pictured, right), along with AIJAC Policy Analyst Or Avi-Guy, will answer most of these questions and more at an interactive community forum, presented by the Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA) and Zionist Council of Victoria (ZCV).
This free event is scheduled for 7:45 pm, 30 January, at Beth Weizmann Community Centre, Caulfield South.
Ehud Ya’ari, a distinguished commentator, author and editor, will join a discussion via web from Israel. Ya’ari is an expert on Middle Eastern affairs and the author of eight books on the Arab-Israeli conflict, having interviewed more than a dozen Israeli prime ministers and other Middle Eastern leaders.
Avi-Guy is a policy analyst at the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) and a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, researching post-ethnic conflict political reconciliation. She served as a military correspondent at the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) Media and Communication Division (spokesperson unit). During her service she covered both the disengagement from the Gaza Strip in 2005 and the second Lebanon war in 2006.
