“A Fair Go for Israel”
Neil Lazarus tours Australia – 10-18 September 2011
“A Fair Go for Israel” is the title of meetings to be held around Australia, bringing together Christians, Jews and others who support Israel to hear from internationally acclaimed Neil Lazarus. In a whirlwind 9 days, covering six cities, he will present 22 sessions to literally thousands of people. Neil is being brought to Australia by Bridges for Peace in conjunction with the Zionist Federation of Australia, and with the support of state Zionist Councils, AUJS and the AZYC.
The initiative for the tour came from Keith Buxton, Bridges for Peace’s Australian Director, who explained: “Our objective at Bridges for Peace is to create awareness and understanding of Israel, her people and the issues with which she’s confronted. Neil Lazarus is not only an expert in Middle East politics and diplomacy – he is also a first class educator. Bringing him to both the Christian and Jewish communities, in a joint venture with the ZFA, will not only be a fantastic educational experience for the many participants who will attend across the country, but will further strengthen our bonds with the Jewish and Zionist community.”
Neil will be visiting and presenting programs in Western Australia, Victoria, NSW, Canberra and Queensland. His tour itinerary comprises a mixture of major events held at churches with more in depth information and educational programs specifically designed for students and youth, for the community and for advocacy professionals.
“Neil’s presentations combine his in depth knowledge with his remarkable ability to entertain and train simultaneously,” said Ginette Searle, ZFA Executive Director. “Neil recently presented at the ZFA’s Advocacy Seminar for shnat participants in Israel and, as always, his sessions hit just the right note and gave the participants valuable tools to be effective advocates. I’m sure that he will be equally impressive in all his Australian sessions,” she said.
The major sessions to be held in churches around Australia have beentitled “A Fair Go for Israel”. In his inimitable style, Neil will not only empower Christian and Jewish groups to understand the complex issues facing Israel, but will also give them essential advocacy skills.
“We are extremely grateful to Keith for his initiative in bringing Neil to Australia, and for the ongoing commitment of Bridges for Peace to Israel and the Jewish people,” said Searle. “We look forward to Neil’s tour and to future joint ventures.”
