Caulfield Park Community Branch, Bendigo Bank supports the Jewish community

Zionist Council of Victoria Executive Director Ginette Searle, Treasurer Robert Lissauer and Advertising Executive Sandra Sochen together with heads of several other Jewish communal organisations recently attended the Bendigo Bank, Caulfield Park Community Branch AGM where they were presented with generous contributions to support important ongoing events and activities.

ZCV Executive Director Ginette Searle said “We are extremely grateful for our partnership with the Caulfield Park Community branch of Bendigo Bank. Specifically their support benefitted the Yom Ha’atzmaut Community Concert as well as an abundance of communal events that the ZCV conducted throughout the course of the year.”

The recipient organisations also included NCJWA (Vic), Maccabi Victoria and Ajax Football Club.

The Caulfield Park Community Bank branch provides communities with more than just banking services – they deliver employment opportunities for local people, keep local capital in the community, are a local investment option for shareholders and provide a source of revenue for important community projects determined by the local community.

A Community Bank branch is a locally owned and operated company, which functions as a franchise of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. Bendigo and Adelaide Bank provides the coverage of its banking license, a full range of banking products, training of staff and ongoing support.

When the local company begins to make a regular operating surplus, after the payment of branch running costs, and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s share of the revenue is received, the remaining funds are available to be reinvested back into the community through dividends to shareholders and grants to community groups and projects.

Branch Manager Travis Wason said, “Caulfield Park Community Branch of Bendigo Bank has distributed over $160,000 into the local community over the last 5 years. We aim to increase this to $500,000 over the next 5 years. The community can in turn help by supporting the community bank which will then invest the profits back into you and the community. If it is good for business, it is good for community.”

Maccabi Victoria and the Ajax Football Club were presented with a total of $20,000.

Michael Bookman, Executive Director of Maccabi Victoria said “Bendigo Bank has been an important sponsor of Maccabi Victoria for several years. Its level of sponsorship has enabled Maccabi to provide valuable support to the many activities & events that it organizes annually. Bendigo Bank also applies direct support to the Ajax Junior Football Club which provides the club with their club jumper for every player. The Bank really does assist Maccabi in fulfilling its mission of “connecting the community through sport”.

National Council of Jewish Women Australia Inc (Victoria) President Suzie Ivany said “NCJWA Inc (Vic) is very proud of our association with the bank and grateful for their support of our community bus, enabling us to transport senior members of the community to our programs”.
