New World Zionist Organisation position for SZCV President, Dr Danny Lamm

Dr. Danny Lamm was elected to the World Zionist Organisation Executive at its meeting in Jerusalem in June.

Dr. Lamm currently holds several positions within the World Zionist Organisation. He has been a member of the organisation’s Va’ad Hapoel since 1997, and has served as a committee member on the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency since September 2006.

Dr Lamm is also a member of the Jewish Agency Committee for the Former Soviet Union. He noted that he has been briefed by the Jewish Agency director for the Former Soviet Union of the Jewish Agency’s plans to assist Jewish residents of Gori and South Ossetia. The Jewish Agency is providing transportation for families interested in meeting with Jewish Agency representatives in Tbilisi regarding their eligibility to move to Israel and is offering special absorption opportunities to entire households (three generations).

“There is concern as to their well being, and there is a strong commitment of the Jewish Agency to assist Jews in distress anywhere in the world” noted Dr Lamm.

Priding himself on very active involvement in Melbourne’s Zionist community, Dr Lamm has served as President of the State Zionist Council of Victoria since 2002. He led the Mizrachi Organisation for nine years as its president, and has been communally active since his teens.

Dr. Lamm currently sits on the executive bodies of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, the Zionist Federation of Australia and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry.

Under Dr. Lamm’s very successful and dynamic 6 year presidency, the State Zionist Council has further developed its capacity and effectiveness in hasbara, leadership development, engagement with general communal leaders and providing a range of activities and services to connect people from the Jewish community more strongly with Israel.
