SZCV congratulates leading Executive member Ron Finkel on JCCV award

State Zionist Council President Dr Danny Lamm has congratulated his Vice President on the SZCV Executive, Ron Finkel who will be receiving an award for service to the community from the Jewish Community Council (JCCV) at their Community Volunteer Awards this evening, Monday November 12.

Mr Finkel has been a longstanding advocate for Israel and Zionism since his student days in the 1970s when he served as the President of AUJS. Subsequently he was the Secretary General of WUJS based in London. In his many and varied communal positions, he has consistently demonstrated commitment and dedication to the community and to Israel, and has given unselfishly of his time and expertise.

Ron currently holds the position of Vice President of the State Zionist Council of Victoria. He is President of Ameinu Australia and Hadassah International Medical Organisation of Australia.

In addition, Ron is also the co-chair of the Arava-Australia Leadership Group of Partnership 2000, which, under the auspices of the UIA, aims to bring our community closer with Israel via tangible and meaningful projects undertaken jointly with our “partner” region, the Central Arava.

If those projects don’t fill his calendar, Ron is also a committee member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Commenting on the award Dr Danny Lamm said today “Ron has the unique combination of visionary thinking and the ability to inspire and motivate those around him to ensure that his ideas come to successful fruition.”

“Just as an example, he was instrumental in facilitating the historic Memorandum of Understanding between the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem and Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital. This exchange sees Hadassah Hospital sharing its expertise on management of mass trauma and the Alfred sharing its expertise on reducing and dealing with road traffic accidents.”

“Ron is an initiator; an innovator and a dedicated volunteer for our community, and fully deserves the recognition a Community Award brings” Dr Lamm added.
