Dear Advocates,
Although as Advocates for Israel we spend a lot of time being reactive to the media, one thing I have always liked to focus on is Positive Hasbara. I received an email last week with a list of Israel’s achievements in the first few months of 2007. It may not be something that you would send to the media, but is certainly worth sending to friends and colleagues. Click here to read more.
Today’s Australian featured an article about the Six Day War entitled ‘How the West Bank Was Accidentally Won’ by Abraham Rabinovich, intertwining his own personal experience with a detailed account of what happened in June 1967. It is refreshing to read an article relating to the Six Day War that gives some historical context to the war, without simply brushing over the events leading up to the war.
This is contrasted by Ed O’Loughlin’s spread in The Age on Saturday entitled ‘Six Days of War, 40 Years of Pain’, where O’Loughlin glosses over the events of the war and runs straight to regularly trotted out line of the “occupation”.
Today’s Australian also featured a short excerpt of an opinion piece featured in the telegraph a few days ago by Charles Moore entitled ‘What If Israelis Had Abducted BBC Man’. It is an article that is well worth reading.
Finally I just wanted to remind you all about tomorrow nights’ Yom Yerushalayim event – remembering and celebrating the 40th anniversary of a reunified Jerusalem.
