The Australian Zionist Youth Council (AZYC) of Victoria is the umbrella organisation representing Victoria’s six Zionist Youth Movements. The AZYC provides leadership for the movements and aims to create opportunities for the movements to come together to support and learn from one another.
All six youth movements represented on the Youth Council provide weekly programming for children and youth (years 2/3 through year 12), events, camps and gap-year programs for recent high school graduates. They provide fun, informal educational programming to create experiential learning that leaves a lasting impact on their chanichim.

Bnei Akiva is a world-wide religious-Zionist youth movement; the largest snif (branch) outside Israel is in Melbourne. Bnei Akiva strives to educate, inspire and empower Jewish youth in the ways of “Torah v’Avodah,’ aiming to foster a deep love for Judaism and Israel under the pillars of “The nation of Israel, in the land of Israel, under the law of Israel.” Shevet Yuval is a group for Jewish youth with special needs.
Habonim Dror is a Jewish, Socialist-Zionist youth movement that operates in Australia and around the world. Through critically analysing world events, Habonim Dror strives to empower youth, providing them the with ability to develop a meaningful Jewish identity that exists in all spheres of life, which is to be used to improve oneself, the Jewish people and the wider world.
Hashomer Ha’Tzair is a worldwide Zionist youth movement that aims to provide each of its chanichim with a deep and personal connection with Israle and Secular Humanist Judaism. This strong identity is facilitated by the promotion of critical thinking through informal and inclusive education. Its educational focus on social issues and personal growth aims is designed to promote youth empowerment and youth autonomy.
Hineni, an Australian-born Zionist youth movement, is a Modern Orthodox, politically active and pluralist Zionist youth movement that educates within a politically non-partisan framework. Hineni takes a balanced approach to education with a unique philosophy that presents all sides of the spectrum. Hineni aims to foster critically thinking individuals who can engage with the world with a mature, considered and balanced approach to a range of issues within the Jewish, Zionist and wider world.
Netzer is a world-wide Progressive, Zionist Youth Movement, affiliated with the World Union for Progressive Judaism, which aims to inspire and educate the youth of our community. Netzer uses informal education to run a variety of activities that are both fun and intellectually challenging. Netzer aims to empower the youth and encourage them to be active participants of the Progressive community.
The Tzofim (Israeli Scouts) is an educational, pluralistic Zionist youth movement based in Israel and active all over the world. The movement seeks to provide its members with a series of formative experiences to develop leadership and foster a strong connection to Israel. Shevet (tribe) Onot offers weekly activities, all of which are conducted in Hebrew.
