About Connecting Cultures

“The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values.”
William S. Burroughs.

What is Connecting Cultures All About?

In existence for over 20 years, our Connecting Cultures Program, formerly known as Public Speaker Service (PSS), has seen up to 10,000 students per year to attend a specialised presentation.

The program may be attended at Beth Weizmann Jewish Community Centre or may be outsourced to your school or organisation.

Connecting Cultures includes a stand-alone session and/or a visit to a local Jewish venue. Drawing on resources from affiliate organisations – from Jewish schools to charities, women’s and youth organisations, the medical and environment fields – presentations are fascinating, dynamic and up-to-date.

Our popular day-long “Jewish Life Program” includes a tour of the Jewish Holocaust Centre or the Jewish Museum of Australia, an Israeli-style lunch and talk at the Beth Weizmann Jewish Community Centre and a visit to a local synagogue for a hands-on look at the rituals and themes surrounding Jewish religious practice.

Each of these elements may be booked as a separate program. We have programs and topics specifically tailored for secondary or primary schools. We are also happy to devise a unique lecture and/or program that best suits the needs of your students or membership. A list of possible topics may be found below.

While the Connecting Cultures Program is free, there are charges associated with entrance to the Holocaust Museum (by donation), the Jewish Museum of Australia (upon application) and the Israeli lunch ($10 + GST per person). Please note that prices do vary from time to time.
